Reflection 2/16/12

Today i give myself a 6 because when i got to class the first thing i did was catch up with all my work. I had a lot of unfinished work that had to be done. After completing that out teacher had us pick a drug in which we will do our project on. :D

Lesson 9 sentences

1. My uncle has a very bad addiction for drinking alcohol .
2. My teacher always has a very positive attitude towards the class.
3. Cherie is a very codependent  girl because she always shows care for others.
4. The boys family had a formal intervention with him, because he has a very bad addiction with drugs.
5. People with mental disorders have psychological problems.
6. The women seems  to revolve all around perfectionism .
7. Israel has such a great personality.
8. The famous singer had a bad relapse over the addiction of pills.
9. Five people get together into what they call a support group to speak about there feelings and help each other.
10. The boy always throws tantrums due to his panic disorder.

Reflection 2/8/12

Today i give myself a 4 , because i came and right away started on my Do Now and got it done. Then we had to take our lesson 9 notes. The reason being on why i gave myself a 4 is because i get easily distracted and sometimes i don't get my work done on time. I try my best to be productive. (:

   Personality

* Personality is an individuals unique pattern of Characteristics
* There are many influences on personality , including heredity, environment attitudes, and behaviors.

What to know about personality?


* Personality is determined by;

- Heredity , your heredity helps determine your intellectual abilities , temperament , and talents.
-Environment , where you live and the people with whom you have contact influence your personality and the opportunities you have.
-Attitudes , attitude is the feeling or emotion person has toward something or someone.

Personality type;


- Personality type is a persons usual way of focusing energy , gathering information , making decisions , and getting work done.
- Understanding personality types helps you understand the people with whom you interact.
- It also helps you improve your chances of working successfully with others.

Check your personality type;
* How you focus energy.
-(E) Extroverted ; you are energized by people and things.
-(I) Introverted ; you are energized by ideas and images .

* How you gather information.
-(S) Sensing ; you trust tangible information that you gather from your senses.
-(N) Intuitive ; you give more weight to information from insight and imagination.

How addictions affect health status;
* An addiction can harm physical health.
- Using drugs , including nicotine and alcohol , can harm body organs or cause death.

An addiction can jeopardize safety
- Teens who have an addiction may choose unsafe actions and have accidents.

Chapter 8 Vocabulary

1. Social Emotional Booster : Israel is having a rough time with family problems ,  and he needs a social-emotional booster.
2.Good Character : Cherie has such a good character , she is always in such a great mood.
3. Delayed Gratification : Israel asked Cherie to do his homework , and told her that her reward will be money.
4. Social-Emotional Pollutant : The boy was making a bunch of ugly comments about the girl in black.
5. Self Control : to show/have great behavior.
6. Positive Self Esteem : having great thoughts about yourself.
7. Self Respect : never give yourself a hard time always stay positive.

     *Good Character
: The traits that describe you are a key to what you value. 
Your values are your building blocks to your character. 

     * Values ; a standard or belief , Adults teach a value system to children by setting a an example for children to copy.

     * Character ; Self control is the degree to which a person regulates his or her own behavior , a person has good character when they use self control to act on responsible values.

 Values that are the building blocks for good character

     * Compassion ; you demonstrate compassion when you are sensitive to the needs , wants, and emotions of others and you are forgiving.

     * Respect ; you show respect when you treat others as you want to be treated and refrain fro violence.

     * Honesty ; you are honest when you refuse to lie , steal, or mislead anyone.

     * Trustworthiness ;you are trustworthy when you are dependable, loyal , and honest.


Self Respect ; is having a high regard for yourself.

How to develop self respect ?
      Make a character check

     * Good character is your use of self control to act on responsible values. 
     * if you believe in ways that contradict responsible values , you do not have good character.

     *Adults can help you change negative belief statements into positive belief statements.

Choose actions that demonstrate you self control

     *If you say you have self respect , you must treat yourself in  ways that show you respect yourself.

Actions that promote self respect

     *Be a friend to yourself by enjoying activities by yourself.
     * Write your feelings in a journal.(:
     * Review what you have written to gain self knowledge.

- Make spending time with your family or a mentor a priority.
- Care for other people the way you would like them to care for you.
